naturallawyer: It's odd that three of the four series have gone 2-0 in the first two games and the only split was in Chicago, which I would've thought was the most likely to go 2-0.

naturallawyer: The Kings have two regular season banners, from different seasons, not three from the same failed season, and certainly no conference championship banners when they didn't actually win the conference (in the playoffs).

Scribe: You know the Kings have done that, too, right?
Sunday May 19, 2013 - 12:53:49 PM

naturallawyer: What this means is the Sharks hung three banners for 2008-9: Presidents Trophy, Western Conference Regular Season Champions, and Pacific Division Champions. Had to be awkward the next season, raising three banners to celebrate a season that ended up being an epic failure, since they were eliminated in six games in the first round of the playoffs to the 8th-seeded ducks. I wouldn't want three banners in my building to remind me of that. :-)

naturallawyer: BTW, a couple things on HP Pavilion: during the player announcements right before that shark head ceremony, they tried to get the fans pumped up and ready for the opening of the game by playing Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight." When I hear that song, I definitely think of hockey and intimidation. :-)

Word: Understand this about Tim Leiweke, the much-ballyhooed new head of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment: When he was Dean Lombardi’s boss in Los Angeles, he desperately wanted the Kings to sign free agent Ilya Kovalchuk. He pushed hard for it, and although GM Lombardi really didn’t want Kovalchuk, he went along with it. In retrospect, I wonder: If the Kings signed Kovalchuk, as Leiweke wanted, do they wind up winning the Stanley Cup?

nocloutier: The Kings forecheck is not good, they are getting out shot and the reason they are ahead in the series is the goalie. Sutter isnt doing enough to make things better because if they dont make some adjustments they will be in jeopardy in every game.

nocloutier: If you're going to play Ellerby you sit Muzzin not Martinez. I just dont get Sutter. I dont like the 2nd line. At least put Penner back up there like he was last year.. he was effective. Muzzin problem is seasoning, he just isnt that poised yet. He's a great rookie, but not really poised in difficult situations. I thought Martinez as a rookie was way better under pressure.

belbot18: He should have just made the safe play since they were killing a penalty anywys and it was the dying seconds of the game...shouldn't have given the refs any reason to call anything...more of a mental lapse. Still thinking of how he won the last game during the last minutes of the game.

vbing: Interesting to see DS roll the dice by mixing up tonight. It was like Game 1 against St. Louis when the RTers were wondering about the moves. It's a game that the Sharks should win, so if the Kings lose, DS can take the heat. Meanwhile, he gets some new legs ino the game, brings in some new energy, and finds out how Pearson can perform at a high level.

kingleberry: Havlats not the threat he once was, it's a move of desperation where putting Pearson in is a move of confidence. I like the idea of challenging their fourth line with our fourth line of youth. Not that many rookies have the opportunity to win the Stanley Cup their first year, Pearson and Toffoli tore it up in the AHL
