Moller Activated; Preissing Placed On IR

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On February 11, the Los Angeles Kings activated rookie forward Oscar Moller from injured reserve and placed defenseman Tom Preissing on injured reserve, retroactive to February 1.

Moller, 20, suffered a fractured clavicle during the 2009 IIHF World Junior (Under-20) Championships in Ottawa (December 26, 2008 - January 5, 2009). The 5-11, 180-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden was the captain of Team Sweden for the tournament, scoring a goal and adding three assists for four points, helping lead his team to the Silver Medal.

In thirty games with the Kings this season, Moller has scored six goals and has contributed seven assists for 13 points. He was selected by the Kings in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Rich Hammond of the Daily News is reporting in his Inside the Kings blog that the Kings are considering sending Moller to his junior team, the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, to finish the season.

Preissing, 30, has what the Kings are now calling an “upper body injury.” Earlier reports from the Kings stated that he had a case of vertigo.

The 6-0, 197-pound native of Arlington Heights, Illinois has three goals and four assists for seven points in 22 games this season.

Preissing was signed as an unrestricted free agent on July 2, 2007.
