SCOTT PARSE SIGNS 2-YEAR DEAL

EL SEGUNDO, CA — On May 26, the Los Angeles Kings signed left wing Scott Parse to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Parse, 25, scored eleven goals and added thirteen assists for 24 points with a +13 plus/minus rating and 22 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games last season.

Parse’s eleven goals tied him for tenth among National Hockey League rookies and he was tied for second among rookies in plus/minus (first among rookie forwards). He made his NHL debut on October 24, 2009, at Phoenix.

The 5-11, 197-pound native of Portage, Michigan also played in four playoff games, but did not record a point.

In fourteen regular season games with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (Kings’ primary minor league affiliate) this season, Parse scored four goals and added eleven assists for fifteen points with 21 penalty minutes.

In 74 regular season games with the Monarchs in 2008-09, Parse scored fifteen goals and added 24 assists for 38 points with 38 penalty minutes.

Parse began his professional career late in the 2006-07 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL after completing his senior year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCAA). He split time with Manchester and Reading of the ECHL during the 2007-08 season.

Parse was selected by the Kings in the sixth round (174th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
